2006 Corazón Gewürztraminer
“A small-batch labor of love from Napa vintner Cathy Corison”
-Jon Bonné, San Francisco Chronicle
The delicious Corazón Gewürztraminer is sourced from a 30-year-old vineyard in the Anderson Valley, clearly the most distinguished area in California for the development of the spicy character of this varietal. Inspired by the wines of Alsace, the Corazon Gewürztraminer is fermented to dryness and has snappy, mouthwatering natural acidity. Made this way, Gewürztraminer cries out for food. Here at the winery, we like it with oysters on the half shell, spicy prawns with jasmine rice and grilled citrus chicken on a bed of lemon cous cous.
The 2006 ripening season was unusually cool and long, resulting in great complexity and a lush feel in the mouth. Sporting a lovely pale primrose color and aromas and flavors of honeysuckle, melon, honeycomb and Meyer lemon, it has a crisp, refreshing finish.
Corazón is the ancestral form of my family name and means "heart" in Spanish.
